Awakening to your true self is a difficult journey. As you traverse this path, you arrive at many crossroads—ones that require you to choose between two opposing views. Often, the choice is between a path you’ve long walked, carved out by traditional, familiar biases and viewpoints ingrained in us since birth that have passed down for countless generations; and the other, as poet Robert Frost coined, “The Road Less Travelled”. This other path requires you to shed these old rituals that aren’t serving you, embrace change, and accept the higher truth that comes from within you. This new pathway asks you to act on your intuition, the messages from your soul, and create a new way of living—one for others to follow. This is what makes the path so challenging.
As humans, there lies an ever-lasting, constant battle within us between the trappings of the mind and the callings of the heart. Spirit asks us to overcome this struggle with a higher perspective obtained by finding a balance of the two that works for you. The mind can trap us in old, disserving cycles by focusing too much on veils of illusion created by our fears and insecurities. Therefore, to restore the balance, and move forward, you have to see beyond this veil, and find the will to overcome your own fears.
Hereafter, I’ve compiled a list of higher truths I’ve had revealed through my own trials and tribulations, and bore witness to during others’ experiences. Hopefully, revealing these truths—some albeit, are harsh—will help you carry you beyond these crossroads.
- The Fear of Change: This one is extremely difficult to perceive. Although it may seem to be otherwise, today’s society is hellbent on staying the same. Society as a whole, has become all to familiar and content in its comfort zones. The reason there is so much chaos and anarchy in the world right now is because this new cosmic energy is trying to awaken people to their illusions and cause change. Many people’s fear of this change disrupting comfort zones is scaring people into reacting poorly. This is manifesting in the 3D as chaos and anarchy.
- The Planet’s Energy has Long Been Out-of-Balance: Society—since a long distant past—has been too controlled by these illusions, and has been too swayed toward the masculine energy. This is evident in many forms, however, here is a good example: modern monotheistic religions. As the planet’s energy shifted more into the masculine energy, monotheistic religions arose. Think about this: the main ideal of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam is that there is one omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent god (often visualized as a male figure). Where’d the feminine energy go? The only remotely large feminine presence in Christianity, for example, is Mary (either of them), but neither is considered a goddess. So it’s not as though the feminine energy was gone completely, just suppressed. As Christianity grew to power in Rome, these Christians went to the extremes to raze and bury pagan religions surviving at that time—although, they adopted much of their rituals and beliefs into Christianity in lesser forms, such as adopting pagan deities as saints (like Celtic goddess Brigid), and creating Christian holidays around the same time of year as pagan festivals (like Christmas at the end of year, instead of Yule). The energies are not balanced here, and haven’t been for a long time. Some imbalanced masculine distortions and illusions include the ideas of control, power, and aggression. You see evidence of these in the many wars that have been going on for ages.
- Control Is An Illusion: In truth, control is a fallacy. The only thing you can control is your own reactions. Nature acts on its own will, and people have the power to make their own decisions, and can react in any way to any situation, regardless of what others desire. You truly cannot control anything outside yourself.
- You Can Create Your Own “Family”: The word “family” is associated with feelings of being supported in your growth, respected, and loved unconditionally. We are raised to believe that our family is the group of relatives we were born into. However, you do not have to attach yourself to the idea that you must consider your relatives family. Those you should consider “family” are those who are relatively close to your soul, and make you feel supported, loved, and respected as a spiritual being. In other terms, your “soul family”. For many, it may still be the case that you feel a soul belonging to your relatives, and consider them your family. If you do not get these things from your relatives, you are not alone in this—I don’t either. But I have released this negative attachment. I was able to do this by accepting that my true self is not this human identity, and I do not have to attach myself to these people who do not resonate with me on a soul level, or respect me. I’ve accepted that my family is the one I create by surrounding myself with those on the same soul level as me, who love me unconditionally, and respect my boundaries and goals.
- Death Is Inevitable, There Is No Need to Fear It: So common is the fear of dying. But this is an ego-based fear. Accepting your true self is an immortal, spiritual being, not your human identity is important. It helps you to release so many negative attachments. When you embrace yourself as a spiritual being living the human experience, you’ll realize that it is only your human identity dying, as the real you transforms into your higher being and moves back into the higher vibrations for the next phase. Also, remember death is a transformation into something new, something better, for even in tarot, what follows death is always a rebirth. This happens everyday on a smaller scale. For those of us awakening, you will have noticed this, as awakening spiritually requires an ego death, followed by a rebirth into your true spiritual self. Don’t worry if you feel you can’t overcome this fear, for many have spent lifetimes on Earth to learn this lesson.
- The Dark Nights of Soul Aren’t Forever: The time you spend in the shadows is necessary for you to live in the light. When amidst a dark night of the soul, you will experience fears and insecurities rise to the surface, this is so you can find their source and release them. You can only do this if you are aware of them in the first place. You will also have times where you feel or think you are disconnected from your soul or spiritual self, like they’re two separate yous, but this is the mind’s way of running away from the scary shadows. This disassociation will pass as you awaken to more of your light. To overcome this feeling, clearly set your intention and will power toward facing the fears. Feel free to ask for help and guidance from your guides if you need to. There is an end to the awakening process. It isn’t forever.
- There are Higher Reasons for Traumas: I’ve mentioned this in previous articles, but no matter how it may appear to you at the time, all traumas happen for a reason. You agree to learn specific lessons on Earth before you are sent here—referred to as a ‘soul contract’. I believe there are two possibilities: one, that your soul agrees to learn these lessons, yes, but I think how they’re learnt is dependent on the decisions you make as you are living as a human. I was meant to learn how to love and trust myself, and be able to discern what is for my highest good and what isn’t. Had I listened to my intuition, and loved myself from the get-go, I question if I would have had to experience my traumas of rape and abuse at all. Or two—which I lean more toward as my truth—that the traumas were part of my soul contract to begin with, so after I overcame them, I would be able to help others do the same, as a lightworker. Whichever view you choose to believe, either way, traumas occur for a higher purpose.
- Survivor versus Victim: When it comes to traumas, all victims are survivors, that’s a given; however, there is a mindset that because you live your life despite these traumas, and even overcame depression, anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), you are no longer a victim. This is more commonly not the case. As long as you still live with all the negative habits, thought patterns, and behaviors you adopted as a result of these circumstances, you are still a victim. I realized myself that I wasn’t truly free from victimization until just recently as I released the last of all my negative fears and habits I adopted in effect of the rapes: the fear for my safety. I was held victim by this fear, that it controlled every action I took in the past, and every decision I made was out of a need to protect myself. These were not serving me; I was not being my true self. I hadn’t even realized this truth that I was still a victim until I truly released this fear. I feel so free now, and truly feel I am a thriving Survivor.
These are just a few of the truths you come to learn as part of your journey. There is much more wisdom within yourself that comes to light as you open yourself up to the higher vibrations. I hope these help you to release more of your shadows.
